The purpose of these listings is for local activists to help people find alternative places to PP, not just for pregnancy, but for STD testing and treatment and other medical services that PP provides. See our home page.
PP locations are current up to March 1, 2024; check PP’s Texas page for updates on openings or closures. Five locations are counted as having two centers – they used to have their regular clinic separate from their abortion facility at the same location, but since abortions are now illegal in Texas, they account the second center as a “health resources center.” This will leave them ready to turn back to doing abortions if that’s ever legalized in Texas. In 2005, Texas had 78 centers, so there’s been a substantial drop.
They have added Greater Texas Virtual Health Center, and in the Houston area, Gulf Coast Virtual Health Center. See out page on telehealth.
We list Community Health Centers, Rural Health Clinics, and other possible alternatives. These were found through web research, with occasional additions from local activists. Unless noted, they still need to be vetted by local activists as to quality and suitability. Here are action suggestions if they’re suitable or if they need improvement. Planned Parenthood has dismissed its case for Medicaid funding, so Texas can now exclude PP from its Medicaid program. PP centers can still, of course, take insurance payments and individual payments, but only if people go to them instead of to the alternatives.

“I can certify that UT/Memorial Hermann facilities and Baylor College of Medicine facilities will not be pro-life. Methodist and St. Luke’s will be only marginally better.
